„Civilization“ ist eine sehr sehr sehr geniale Video-Installation von Marco Brambilla für das New Yorker Standard Hotel, bei der die Fahrstuhlgäste je nach Fahrtrichtung auf eine Reise vom Höllengrund zum Himmel oder vom Himmel zur Hölle mitgenommen werden. Erstellt wurde das Video mit epischer Musikuntermalung aus 400 geloopten Videoclips – und ist somit einer der atemberaubensten Video-Mashups, die ich je gesehen habe.

The first phase was the longest and most involved because it was all about researching and then sampling the film clips. I then put together both a chronological video sequence of the “journey” from hell to heaven and “photoshoped” collages using still images to create the composition.
